Public art enhances our city’s quality of life by making it more welcoming and beautiful. UCI partnered with artists from all over the U.S. to showcase unique and creative works of art in the annual Sculpture Walk. Columbus residents voted to select May Flower as the People’s Choice Award. This sculpture was purchased by Columbus Regional Healthcare System and dedicated to the children of Columbus and the professionals who care for them. May Flower is on permanent display at the corner of 10th Street and Broadway for the enjoyment of all.
UPtown Columbus, Inc. is proud to introduce the newest art pieces to UPtown for Sculpture Walk 2008. We have again partnered with artists from all over the United States to showcase 15 new creative works of art. These pieces will be added to the 2007 People’s Choice Award winner, May Flower (purchased by Columbus Regional Healthcare System); Garden (purchased by Ken Henson); Saturday Distraction; and Paddle Wave.
The artists’ diverse sculptures will be displayed on Broadway in UPtown Columbus on the 900, 1000, 1100 and 1200 blocks from October 2008 – September 2009. The sculptures are owned by the artists and loaned to the exhibit for the year. Each piece will remain on display during this time and be available to the public for sale throughout the year.
If you would like more information on one of the sculptures or a participating artists, please call Richard Bishop or Lisa Rowe at UPtown Columbus, Inc. at 706-596-0111.
Please enjoy strolling down Broadway and viewing these incredible works of art!
